After getting rained out from Tulare we took a week off and then headed to Ocean Speedway for the first race in the Western Classic Racing series. We started off the night by qualifying 7th and then being told that our car was among the loudest and warned that if we did not fix the problem that we would be asked to leave. We ended up changing the headers back to the old suitcases and headed out for our heat race. I started 4th and ended 4th but at least I ended up transferring out of the heat and better yet, had fixed the noise problem. Trying to set the car up for the main we tried to tighten the car up as much as we thought possible. Wouldn’t you know it, it wasn’t enough. At the drop of the green I knew that the original plan to run the bottom was not going to work. So from my second row inside position I had to find my way up to the cushion to get any traction. From there I was not able to do much. I would lose a position and gain one. Never getting better than 4th or worse than 6th. Unfortunately, on lap 26 I threw a slide job that I could not get to stick, and ended up running into Shane Golobic. Even worse, it ended up costing him the night after he had a tire go down. We ended up finishing 5th. Not a bad finish, but would have liked to see it go a little better. We have a few weeks off due to issues, but we will be headed back to Tulare on May 11th and 12th for the Faria Memorial Race.
